New York in Decline/Detroit on the Rise

Now that working people and artists have been all but driven out of New York, Paris and other great cities by insane rents, where can they go?

Detroit.

When I saw those photos, I thought first of the many artists and tradesmen I know who need space, how it made me think of the east Village in the 1980s and the European squatters' movement, and what an opportunity there is in Motown.
